Sep 01, 2017 · My problem is the same as many others I have seen listed. PC was working fine all these years, suddenly went to turn it on and loud fan noise, blank screen, pc won't boot. Have tried all fixes listed. Power cord is fine, f10 will not start BIOS. Took off back, cleaned fans, redid thermal paste. Shortly after my FPS started dropping until black screen, and I had to manually restart the computer. 30 seconds after the GPU was still at 91C in CPUID HW monitor and I noticed the fan was not spinning. And basically whenever I start a game, the temperature will continuously rise and not stop, and the fan does not start even at 90C. One of the fans randomly starts (i think it need some 3d app is running, though). It seems that it working with 100% power (very loud) and never stops once started. Only turning off/on computer helps. I've tested my video card with furmark. My GTX 970 fans are stuck at 100%. No idea what's caused this, turned my machine on one day and noticed the fans were louder than usual. They spin up as soon as I get to the login screen for windows. I've been using MSI Afterburner to control the fan speed for months with no issues but now setting the slider to 0 or 100 makes no difference to. With a lower TDP the GTX 980 runs cooler, which means its cooling fan can spins slower, which results in less noise.... and three full-size display ports. Power comes from two 6-pin inputs.
